Cisco Techwise TV Episode: The Digital Ceiling

Luis Suau is a 26 year veteran of Cisco with 40 years of service in Information Technology. Over the last 9 years Luis worked as a Technical Leader in Cisco's IOT Business Unit. He was a key member of the team that developed Cisco's Digital Ceiling and Digital Building Solutions. After the completion and opening of the highly innovative Marriott Sinclair Hotel, Luis left Cisco in order to pursue his passion of expanding the scope of Digital Building Systems, with an ultimate goal of developing a Building as a DC Microgrid.

 

Since 2008, Luis has been focused on IT Energy Management approaches for Corporate Sustainability including Cisco's EnergyWise protocol, Cisco Digital Ceiling and Digital Building Solutions, and worked with partners to develop new applications for Digital Building Infrastructure with POE; the beginnings of creating a DC based Building. Luis has been a speaker at various conferences including CiscoLive, IES, and BICSI. He has also contributed to Cisco's annual Corporate Sustainability Report, helped launch Cisco’s Lab Energy Reduction initiatives,  and Cisco's submissions to the Greenpeace Cool IT challenge.

Luis began his career at Cisco in 1993 as a Corporate Consulting Engineer in the group that eventually became its Research and Advanced Development group, and has worked on a number of other technology areas such as Digital Video Transport, Data over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) and IBM Internetworking. He began his career in IT in 1980 and holds a BBA degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) from Florida International University. Luis has previously served as a member of the Technical Advisory Board for DTV America Inc., and enjoys Automobiles, Photography, and working on home improvement projects at his residence in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
